1. Food Dye Made With Bugs
Thats right, the bright hues that make up your favorite colorful treats might very well be thanks to a certain bug population. Cochineal dye comes from a ground paste consisting of dried cochineal insects, pictured above. Derived from the South American regions, this technique has been used since the 15th century. Starbucks went under scrutiny for revealing they practice this technique, their reasoning was that it was a step moving away from artificial coloring.
2. It Is Impossible To Tickle Yourself
The brain uses all the senses to prepare itself for any oncoming sensations. It mostly disregards any expected sensations and focuses on the unexpected. Since the element of surprise goes out the window, its pretty much impossible to tickle yourself.
3. Humans & Giraffes Have The Same Amount of Neck Bones
Considering they are the tallest land animal on Earth, and half of their height is due to their neck span, its rather interesting to know that humans have the same amount of vertebrae as giraffes. Seven to be exact. Obviously though, their’s is much, much longer.
4. Breastfeeding Promotes Higher IQ
In children, of course. Studies have shown that a breast-fed baby receives a higher IQ score in their later years than those who were fed formula. Even when adding in factors such as ‘genetic smartness’.
5. Boy With A Tooth In His Foot
In 1977, Doug Pritchard, a 13 year old boy living in North Carolina, went to the doctor to figure out what was causing his foot pain, only to find out a TOOTH was growing there, root and all. He suffered an extremely rare genetic misdirection which caused the teeth-growing properties to make its way to the foot.
6. The Sewage System Drug Test
You cannot hide from this test that has been developed by authorities to keep track of drug use in towns, that is unless you take your business outside. Through testing a spoon of water from a community’s sewage plant, they’re able to find out what drugs have been used, on what days, and in how many amounts.
